Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a Mod? A Mod is a modification of an analog effect pedal which changes the sound characteristics of the pedal.

What does your Tube Screamer© Mods consist of? We buy used and new TS9, TS5, TS7 and TS10 pedals. We then carefully perform modifications to these, which replicates the same circuit that was found in the TS808 (considered the Holy Grail of overdrive/distortion pedals). Original TS808 pedals (the same pedal Stevie Ray Vaughn played) sell on eBay for up to $500.00! Basically you end up with a pedal which sounds identical to the TS808 for a fraction of the cost!! ***We also go through each pedal, under high magnification and use electrical test equipment to check for faulty or weak stomp switches, bad solder joints, faulty components, or faulty circuits. Any defects are repaired or the component is replaced. This is the difference from the competition! You end up with a "like new" pedal, even though it may be used. We find that even new pedals sometime have defects!

Why should I get my pedal or kit from you? One word, QUALITY! We use and sell only the highest quality electrical components and test each pedal and part that passes through my hands. This whole business started with the help of a friend of ours who is an electrical engineer. Through his contacts, he obtained factory schematics of the whole Tube Screamer© line of pedals. He then sat down an analyzed each circuit and compared them to each other and found the "key" combination of modifications for each individual pedal to make the output the same as a TS808. He then helped once again by finding suppliers for high quality NOS components which replicates the sound that other Mods and kits miss.

Why do you ship both Op-Amps with your pedals? The answer is simple, original TS808's shipped with different Op-Amps. Back when the first series of the the original TS808's shipped they contained the JRC4558D chip from Japan Radio Company. Then a year or so later Ibanez® started shipping the TS808's with the Texas Instruments RC4558P chip. Which sounds better? Everyone has their own opinion, this is why we include both chips!!! There are very minor tonal differences and now you can decide for yourself which you prefer better!!

How long does shipping take? Once we have received payment, you should expect to have your kit or pedal within 2-3 days within the continental US, depending on the day of the week payment is received. We ship via the United States Postal Service, sorry this is the only carrier we will use.
